Protect the Things You Can't Replace
Insurance can replace a couch. It can't replace your grandmother's recipe cards or the family photo albums.
Tip 1: Upgrade how you store your most important things. A fire- and water-resistant safe or document box is inexpensive protection for passports, birth certificates and small heirlooms. Keep it off the floor in flood-prone areas.
Tip 2: Give every heirloom its own photo. Photograph each piece on its own, against a plain background, with any signature, stamp or maker's mark visible. Then jot down what you know: who owned it, where it came from, any past appraisals. That story matters to your family, and to an insurer if something happens.
👉 Document your heirlooms one piece at a time. Upload a photo of each item to ask.lucille. We'll identify it and estimate its value, so your records are ready when you need them. Create my inventory →
