Resilience starts at home, so does your inventory.

Resilience Starts at Home. So Does Your Inventory.

October 12, 2026•1 min read

Tuesday, October 13 is the United Nations' International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction. This year's theme is one we couldn't have written better ourselves: Resilience Starts at Home.

Big disaster plans make the news, but recovery happens one household at a time. After a fire, flood or storm, one of the first things every household is asked for is a list of what was inside.

Then on Thursday, October 15 at 10:15 a.m., schools, businesses and families across the country practice the Great ShakeOut earthquake drill. This year, make it a two-step drill.

Tip: Drop, cover, hold on, then look around. When the drill ends, stay in the room you're in and photograph the five things you'd most want to replace if they were gone. One item per photo, label side out.

That's five items in two minutes, and the start of your home inventory.

👉 Turn those five photos into an inventory. Upload a photo of each item to ask.lucille. We'll identify it and estimate its value, then you can add the rest of the room whenever you're ready. Create my inventory →
